Recently I was asked just what an “urban development consultant” does? Well, one recent example is a strategy discussion I had with several people preparing to launch an ambitious urban regeneration program in the historic city center of a prominent national capital. Switched on people, cool and complex project, great recipe. While it hasn’t worked out yet, getting ready for the interviews brought a short flash of panicked clarity, and this slide, answering the question:

“When launching a complex, expensive, political, and highly visible regeneration program what are 20 or so top items you can think of, right now, to be accounted for and knitted together layers deep in order to significantly improve the odds for success?”

Nothing special, but a piece of in-the-field urban development strategery, potentially of interest to like-minded professionals and/or insomniacs.
